I am a Clinical Psychologist who specializes in treating trauma, grief, histories of abuse, women's issues and I work with those who identify as LGBTQ. If you want to be able to tell your story, have someone to lead you to feeling hopeful again, we can work on that together. We will work each visit to help you move closer to your goals. Clients often fear getting started in therapy, perhaps anticipating the therapist to have an agenda or to judge the concerns of the client.  I approach therapy as a conversation, looking at both the behaviors you want to change and talking about the life events that led you to this point.

What is trauma work?

Trauma is an event or series of events that overwhelms our ability to process it. Our response to the event at the time creates difficulties in the way we think, feel and behave.  Often, the event rewires our nervous system to some extent so that we are hyperaware, jumpy and overreactive emotionally. The work is learning to settle the body's responses down and make active changes in the ways we think, feel and behave.
